On a recent road trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon, we were on the lookout for some craft breweries. To our surprise, we actually found quite a few. You know the craft brewing revolution is in full effect when you can find a great brewery even at a small town far from the big cities.
Our first stop was Black Bridge Brewery
in Kingman, AZ. Although a small brewery in a small town, they were brewing some
interesting things. Their more traditional brews including their Double IPA were very solid, but they also had an
interesting spicy and sweet offering that was mead-like infused with chiles.
Outside, we saw a beer sticker that clearly signified some beer geeks had been here.
In Flagstaff, our first stop was Beaver Street Brewery
, a brewpub that has won several GABF awards.
Our second stop was Mother Road Brewing Company
, a fancy tasting room that looked like it belonged in any big city.
Our last stop was Historic Brewing Company
, an excellent brewery in the industrial part of town away from all the restaurants. They also have a very cool logo.
We were impressed
to learn that this small town had over 3 craft breweries. A lot of these places were pretty new.
Unfortunately, a lot of these small places don't bottle their stuff so it's impossible to get unless you are in the area. It is kind of fun to stop by one of these places while road-tripping to have a rare taste of something different. Keep an eye out on your next road trip!
